DRÄCO explains:
A clean 25 mm standing seam without a large machine? With our DRÄCO Benders, it's easier than you might think. All you need to remember are five numbers:
45 – 9 – 14 | 9 – 25
Sounds a bit like the combination to a lock, but instead of opening a door, it makes a standing seam.
First, the large fold (over cloak)
45 mm – Up we go!
Set the depth and gradually bend the sheet upwards.
Important: With every pass, always run the Bender all the way to the end of the sheet. No giving up just before the finish line – the Bender doesn't get to call it a day until it has reached the very end.
9 mm – Back we go!
Adjust the depth and make the reverse bend. And yes, all the way to the end again.
14 mm – And back down!
Bend down over the second fold.
Large fold done. That wasn't so bad, was it?
Now for the small fold (under cloak)
9 mm – Up again!
Bend the profile upwards – you know the drill by now.
25 mm – Final stretch!
Set the depth to 25 mm and bend upwards over the first profile.
That's it. Your 25 mm standing seam profile is ready!
One more practical tip: The EcO-Bender prefers a little finesse over brute force. Don't try to force the sheet into the desired angle in one go. Work gradually in several passes and make sure every pass goes all the way to the end of the sheet.
And if 25 mm isn't enough: For a 35 mm profile, simply change the 45 mm setting to 55 mm and the 25 mm setting to 35 mm.
Small detail, pretty handy
Ever noticed the little eyelet on the Bender?
It's not just there for decoration. With a carabiner or suitable tool holder, the EcO-Bender can easily be attached to your belt. That keeps your hands free and your tool right where you need it.
After all, climbing down to retrieve your Bender isn't exactly anyone's favourite job on a roof. Especially when you're still up there.
